// KIT

What I Shoot With

Mobile-first. Left-handed. Built around actually using it.

[PHILOSOPHY]

The best kit is the kit you have with you. Everything here is chosen to be portable, capable, and fast to deploy — not to impress other photographers.

Nikon Z8

Sensor45.7MP Full Frame BSI-CMOS
AFSubject detection, eye tracking

HandlingLeft-handed orientation

Essentially a Z9 without the integrated grip. Full frame, serious resolution, animal eye-AF that actually works. Left-hand dominant — custom button layout configured accordingly.

The walk-around lens that covers almost everything. Constant f/4 means consistent exposure across the zoom range. S-Line optics — sharp corner to corner.

BaseDOCZ foot stabiliser
Primary useMonopod mode

Used almost exclusively in monopod mode with the DOCZ stabiliser as a base when needed. Lighter, faster, more mobile than a full tripod setup. Often just the DOCZ alone is enough.

The Journey Here

Canon EOS 350D
2005 classic. 8MP APS-C, the camera that started it all. Switched to Nikon on a friend's recommendation — not because Canon isn't capable, but because Nikon rewards technical curiosity. Canon will make decisions for you. Nikon expects you to understand why.
Nikon D7000
The switch to Nikon. Semi-pro APS-C, dual card slots, proper controls. The system that stuck.
Nikon D70
Back to an older body for a period. Sometimes you go sideways before you go forward.
Nikon 1 J1
A brief experiment with mirrorless before mirrorless was ready. Interesting concept, wrong execution. Didn't last.
Nikon Z8 // CURRENT
Full frame mirrorless done properly. 45MP, animal eye-AF, 8K RAW. The destination.
